I pray the words of my experiences will guide you in your life
My kids, there is no magic pill to getting good grades at school. Some subjects are easier than others but Math is a subject that you must do the exercises, to get good at. This is true with anything in life you want to get good at. You must "do it/ practice it" to get good at it. Be it sports, dance, music, etc.
KJ, do you know what you "think you can do", is true?
So if you believe you are "not good / bad" at math... then you are.
If you believe you can't become a doctor, you can't.
If you believe you can't play sports, you can't.
Sure for some kids Math comes "easier" than for others. Some are more gifted in sports than others. But never believe you are "no good" at Math or anything else, because you'll have bought into the biggest lie kids learn in life. I won't accept that!
Our minds are capable of far more than we can imagine. KJ, you tell me about the "Secret". You tell me that "what ever I put my attention to it will happen". There is a another quote, by Napolian Hill, "if you can conceive it, believe it, you can achieve it". Basically this means that if you can see yourself doing that which you would like to create in your life; visualize it, feel it and believe it- then it will happen.
At eleven, you are far smarter than I was at your age. You are an avid reader and I love your determination and persistence. But I want you to remember the Greatest Secret. You gotta BELIEVE in YOURSELF!
You will never hear you Dad say that he can't do this or that. You'll never hear him asking "what do you think?" If I want to, I can be a CEO, Politician, Lawyer, Judge, Doctor, whatever I want to put my thoughts to... even at 40 I can educate myself to do any of these.
So KJ there is no secret to getting good grades in math- just put the same effort that you give to other activities you "like" and you'll see the As you get, coming back.
Your #1 Cheer leader,
Dada
